Did my 10-minute meditation in the backyard, on a chair, on the grass, with a tired Walt laying on the patio.
First, I focused on my visual field with eyes closed. Noticing the changing patterns of color, light, and shadow. Then opened my awareness to sounds, physical sensations, and recognizing thoughts.
Is it me creating the thoughts? Or do the thoughts just appear? And where do they go when I recognize them for what they are, when they disappear?
Then, I noticed my breath and how my chest rises and falls with each one. I tried to cover each breath with my full awareness.
Thoughts came and went. I got lost in thought a few times. When recognized, the thoughts evaporated, and I was again resting as the open space of awareness.
